Freedom Writers

 In the film The Freedom Writers, they start off as a bunch of kids that didn't want to have an education. They all hated each other and wanted nothing to do with the class. Throughout the years they create a tight bond with each other and the teacher Ms Guwell. Ms Guwell loved the kids in the class so much that she took them out on trips and let them participate in interviews with famous survivors from the holocaust.

 3 arguments why we support gay marriage -

1. everyone is equal and has the same rights. If they are lesbian, bisexual, or asexual they should get the same respect as straight people.

2. what wrong with loving the opposite sex? people can love whoever they want to weather the circumstances and it doesn't concern your life and others around you.

3. Judging peoples beliefs and discriminating them as them selves just because you think it will benefit you in life.

 For my assessment, I will focus on the horizontal bars, tramp, and beam. 

Today I have done the tramp and the beam. 

For the tramp, I will focus on an Excellence 

For the beam, I will focus on getting a Merit

And for the horizontal bars, I will focus on getting a excellence

 

Reading skills are the ability to interact and understand the meaning to read, comprehend, interpret, and docode written text. Reading skills are important in school as they allow the children to assess their curriculum and improve their communication and language skills and helps them by making sentences while adding new words.

Some reading strategies are.

Using prior knowledge/previewing, predicting, identifying the main idea and summarization, questioning, making inferences, visualizing, story maps and retelling.

difficulties when working with the treaty

 On the day that it was first signed, there were versions in English and Māori. William Hobson's task was to take possession of it with the consent of as many Māori chiefs as possible. Hobson had to rely on other British treaties and any advice that he could get. Henry Williams and his son Edward both knew the language Maori but had little time to translate it, that was one of the biggest difficulties. they received it on that evening of February 4th and was needed to be finished for the next day. He thought that Māori would be better off under British sovereignty. He knew the chiefs would not agree to a treaty that took too much power from them. The translation was key to getting the Māori agreement. This may be why the words used in the translation had certain emphases and were not a mirror of the English but a particular type of missionary Māori that would be familiar to the chiefs. 

 

In 1846, the British Government issued a self-governing charter to the colony and instructed that all Maori land ownership be registered. Any lands deemed to be unused were to become Crown land. Crown agents developed a range of frequently dubious practices to persuade Maori to sell, and the Crown monopoly meant that they could offer whatever the Government was prepared to pay, not a market rate. Maori criticised a system that did not allow them to lease out their own land or receive market prices, while many Pakeha wished to purchase directly. 

In the first year that the Pakeha population exceeded that of Maori in New Zealand, the first Maori king was chosen.  Around him grew the Kingite movement, supported by Maori from Hauraki to Horowhenua. The Kingitanga was not universally welcomed among Maori, though, with many chiefs refusing to put their mana under that of someone else. 

In March 1860. The Government, wishing to show its freedom to act, insisted on dealing with a minor chief over a small block at Waitara against the direct opposition of a senior chief, Wiremu Kingi, and most of the local people who were actually living on the block.
